More and more people here are starting to wonder what our future currency will be. Is it going to be euros or drachmas? I really don’t know. The thing is the rest of the europeans are pissed off with us and that definitely is not a good thing. Personally i am trying to remain calm and optimistic. And i’m not watching tv at all. I think that is a key factor in order to retain your optimism.
There are some good news of course. Rosetta are back with a new album. Approximately two years have passed since the release of ”The Anaesthete”. Now that was a hell of an album. We have already talked about the Anaesthete in this blog. So what’s new? The answer is many things. First of all Rosetta is now a five piece band. ”Quintessential Ephemera” was released on the 22nd of June. Nine tracks are incuded in this album. Most of them are untitled. Perhaps that’s because after a funeral there is not much to be said. People usually talk through silence and let their emotions to surface. Rosetta’s new album is full of magnificent melodies. Melodic yet really heavy their music remains. Once again a Rosetta album has left me with a bittersweet taste. But it’s always been like that with their music. It’s like a situation where we are going through a lot of shit right now. And then just before the end somebody pops out and says ”don’t worry we will get through this”. This may sound exaggerating perhaps but one must experience albums like these. One thing i’ ve always liked about this band is the vocals. And i like the fact that they have put in more clean ones. In my opinion it works.
Rosetta have managed to put together another great album. It’s full of lyricism and rich emotions. In my opinion Rosetta fans are going to love it. Personally, to be honest i am slightly in favor of ”The Anaesthete”. For example ”The Anaesthete” would get a 9 out 10 and ”Quintessential Ephemera” would get a 8,5 out 10. Check it out and see for yourselves.
