Hello everybody. We’ re back today with yet another review. Today i am a bit lost for words. And that’s because this album is seriously good. Phantom Winter is a five piece band from Wuerzburg, Germany. In my attempt to describe their sound i would have to say that it is a blend of sludge, post metal and black metal. On the 24th of April they released ”Cvlt” which is their first release. And may i say what a release this is! Five kick-ass tracks are included in Cvlt. First track is called ”Corpses Collide” and it literally gave m the chills. Incredible track. There’s no doubt about that, with an eerie, atmospheric piano part. Second track is called ”Finsterwald”. In german it means ”Dark Forest” (Pons.de to the rescue). It is a great, heavy as fuck song. Sludge and black metal blend ideally. Just listen to it and you’ ll see what i’m sayin’ here. ”Svffer” is a great song but what i really want to do is focus on the album’s fourth song which is of course ”Avalanche Cities”. For me this is a beast of a song. It is definitely my favorite one from Cvlt. To be honest it is the track i focused the most and surely i could listen to it for hours. A real night’s madrigal that’s waiting for you to discover. ”Wintercvlt” is my second favorite track from Cvlt. Listening to this track one thing comes to mind: ”This is black metal as it supposed to be”. There are not enough words to describe how awesome this album is. Definitely one of the best albums i’ve listened to in years and also a serious nominee for album of the year. Here are some links where you can also listen to ”Cvlt”:
It’s been a while since our last album review. No significant reason behind that. It just happened. We actually have some good news today. In case you didn’t know, Minsk have a new album. For the record, Minsk is a six piece band formed back in 2002 in the United States. Their music is a blend of sludge, doom metal, many psychedelic elements and post hardcore also. ”The Crash and the Draw ” which was released on the 7th of April is their newest release. Find in this release eleven great tracks. Actually a friend of mine some years ago suggested me Minsk but i regret to say i didn’t really pay attention. That turned out to be a mistake. I’ve been listening to their new album for the last week and the more i listen to it the more i like it. I have not heard any of their past releases so i’m going to focus on their latest release. So the first track is called ”To the Initiate” or else ” initiate dopeness ”. This is a great doom/ post metal track filled even with some cool, old school death metal parts. Didn’t expect to find that there, but i mean how cool is that? ”Within and Without” reminded me a bit of Isis. Be sure to check this track out. What’s great about this track (and this album in general) is how the clean vocals blend with the harsh ones. This is an excellent combination in my opinion. The way i see it the next four songs form a great tetralogy. Four great lyrical and epic songs. Nevertheless there’s no deus ex machina like there used to be in ancient drama. Only divine riffs and a great ambience. So ”Onward Procession” parts i to iv are just great. Neurosis fans are gonna love them. ”Conjuction” is a really nice instrumental track to be followed by another great one called ”The Way is through”. I enjoyed all tracks to be honest. Long story short , this is April’s best album for me. There’s so much richness in this album that’s waiting for you to discover. Here are some links where you can also listen to ”The Crash and the Draw” :
Check out this great song by Cave In.
Or else one of the most underrated albums out there. It’s damn’ shame that this magnificent album is so underrated. Hello. Lately i’ve been listening to this album called ”Eat the Low Dogs” by a band called U.S Christmas. A rather unusual name for a band in my opinion. The band was formed back in 2002 in the United States. ”Eat the Low Dogs” was released back in 2008. Nine tracks are included in this psychedelic masterpiece. And when i say masterpiece i mean it 100%. Everything in this album seems to fit appropriately. From the first song what you get is a certain sense of epicness. Here what we have is a great soundscape where 70’s heavy space rock and sludge/stoner metal mix and match perfectly. So this is my suggestion for the day. Just sit back, relax and listen to this album. It’s about sixty minutes that i promise you, you won’t regret. No favorite songs here. Just listen from the first to the last song. Link:

Hello everyone. Today it is time for another review. We have some really heavy stuff for you, this time from Croatia. Zayn is a four piece, instrumental, post hardcore/ metal band formed back in 2011. ”Fields of God” Lp was recorded in 2014 and it is their third and newest also release. Miran from Zayn sent me a message requesting a review so i decided to check this album out. Nine great instrumental tracks are included in today’s album. First of all, judging from the album’s front cover art i can’t say that i was impressed. Nevertheless it proved to be a ”don’t judge a book by its cover” situation. I must admit i love songs like ”ungodless”. It always feels good when albums start with such emphatic songs. ”Vicarivs Filli Dei” is another great song from the band. These two tracks, and the album as a whole, are two good examples where the absence of vocals is not a problem at all. ”Ode to Bourgeoisie – Philistine Mentality” is a rather intriguing song. It even gave me a jazzy vibe in the beginning. Apart from that it is a really nice song. ”Emperor, guide Us” is definitely my favorite track from ”Fields of God”. In my opinion this one is a beast of a song. Progressive, post, sludge parts fit appropriately. And to be perfectly honest this track is the one i focused the most. ”To think is a Sin” is the track that comes next. Another nice one as well. Progressive parts once again blend ideally with post parts. Just listen to it and you’ ll se what i’m saying here. ”Fields of God” apart from being an insanely heavy song incorporates the element of epicness. At least that’s the impression i got. The album ends with an atmospheric intro called ”11,4”. So the question is what can one expect from ”Fields of God” Lp? Definitely one of the most intriguing albums of this year so far. In my opinion this album sounds inspired as it sounds fresh. It is music i can easily relate to. Recommended for sludge fans, progressive metal fans, post metal fans e.t.c. They made a fan out of me and i think the same will happen with you. Links:
