Easter is over, tomorrow we’re going back to work, and it is also time for some good music. Catapult the Dead is a post metal/sludge band from the United States. The band consists of six members. ”All is Sorrow” which was released yesterday is their debut album.
The album starts with ”All is Sorrow”. It is an epic song which lasts for 37 minutes. The piano sounds like this huge ecclesiastical organ and that really adds up to the song, making it atmospheric and eerie. ”The Rising” is a great song. There are some great vocals in this song. I mean the singer uses different vocal styles very effectively. I also liked ”Valencia” a lot. Really nice song. Listen to this song at 3:20. It kinda sounds like 70’s heavy space rock. And then comes ”Sacrament” with this nice post sound. The album ends ideally with another epic track, which is of course ”Servitude”.
This is a very nice release. Respect for the cover art. I think it is great. I know what you might think. You shouldn’t judge a book by its cover etc etc. I know. Nevertheless the first time i saw it i thought it was great. It felt good that the album lived up to my expectations. Here are some links about ”All is Sorrow” and Catapult the Dead:
